Exploring new solutions for Regenerative Medicine in Miami

I spent last week in Miami collaborating with some of the best minds in the field of Regenerative Medicine, and it was fantastic! It started off with an incredible opportunity to work with the world-renowned plastic surgeon, Dr. Randy Miller, on a few Regenerative Medicine technics. It was great to experience this innovative field of medicine in a new and exciting context, and Dr. Miller was as enthused as I am about the scope and potential we have to make a difference with our treatments.

I then headed to the IFATS meeting – the International Federation for Adipose Therapeutics and Science. It’s quite a mouthful, but IFATS is really very simple – a non-profit scientific society which promotes productive collaboration in the uses of adipose tissue in all its possible fields, especially Regenerative Medicine.

At the meeting, I was fortunate enough to meet Drs. Peter Everett and Robert Marx who are widely celebrated for their work with Platelet Rich Plasma, and I have to say that I am a huge admirer of the work they have done in this field.

The progress of Regenerative Medicine, and the use of adipose tissue, has been astounding. Keynote speaker Bernard Siegel, Executive Director of the Regenerative Medicine Foundation, summed it up perfectly calling the development a “Black Swan event” in medicine. Mr Siegel gave a very compelling lecture on the future of Regenerative Medicine and how this field proves that “the future is now”.

My time in Miami was invigorating and I left the city feeling enthused, fired-up and ready to work. And I have been left with no doubts about the incredible potential of adipose tissue.  I sincerely suggest that anyone interested in the future of medicine take a close look at how the work in adipose tissue could make all our lives that much better.
