Stuart Rogers

Oxfordshire man’s life transformed after pioneering medical treatment

An Oxfordshire man has become one of the first in the country to benefit from a pioneering regenerative treatment.

Stuart Rogers, from Thame, was finding that severe arthritis in both his knees was badly restricting his life.

The 71-year-old, who had been very fit before the arthritis set in, was finding it difficult to play golf.

Mr Rogers, who had a career in the retail sector until he retired, already had one knee replacement, but in spite of this the arthritic condition was affecting this and his other leg joint.

So he decided he needed to look at an alternative remedy to alleviate the acute pain from which he was suffering.

He read about the innovative life-changing regenerative treatment being pioneered by Dr Ralph Rogers and arranged an appointment at the top sports and orthopaedic consultant’s Harley Street clinic in London.

After the initial consultation, Mr Rogers decided going ahead with the treatment was the best course of action for him.

So he underwent Lipogems therapy, a cutting-edge technology that harnesses the natural and powerful reparative capability of the patient’s adipose tissue reserves.

It involves extracting a small amount of fat from the midsection, or love-handles, following which a gentle washing in a closed-system device micro-fragments the fat, preserving its natural and beneficial properties.  This is then injected using a small gauge needle into the specific area requiring treatment, for example the knee or hand joints.

Mr Rogers, who together with his second wife has seven grandchildren, said: “In the weeks since I had this treatment, the change in my life has been absolutely amazing.

“I am virtually pain-free, can contemplate a round of golf again. In fact, just being able to easily walk about again is fantastic.

“You really take for granted such everyday things until a condition like arthritis causes pain and you can no longer do them.  I was in so much pain it affected my sleep and I had to have my knees strapped while in bed to try to alleviate it.

“Deciding to have this treatment was the best decision I could have made.  I cannot recommend it highly enough.”

Dr Rogers is transforming the discipline of Orthopaedics as the first, and most experienced, doctor in the UK to offer regenerative orthopaedics and sports medicine for patients suffering from a variety of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

Dr Rogers said:  “The beauty of this regenerative treatment is that it enables people, who have been living with joint problems and debilitating pain, to return their previous daily activities in a very short while.

“Stuart demonstrates the life-changing potential of this natural healing and regenerative treatment.

“It brings me great satisfaction when patients, whose lives have been severely restricted due to joint problems and pain, are able to live a normal life again.”

The Lipogems device was invented in Italy by the world-renowned plastic surgeon Professor Carlo Tremolada, who was looking for a way to optimise fat for reconstructive applications.   It has been rigorously reviewed by the US Food & Drug Administration and authorised for clinical use in the States since 2014.

Dr Rogers was trained by Professor Tremolada personally in Milan and his patients are reporting significant improvements.  He is so confident in the treatment he now trains other doctors in its use.
